H Street, NE is unique in their commitment to investing in neighborhood youth. As the corridor continues to grow into a bustling business district, it’s more important than ever that the children who grow up in the area are given the tools they will need to continue to improve their neighborhood.

Each summer, HSMS hires and manages 25 neighborhood teens, many of whom came from the DC Passport to Work Program, to work with area businesses for two months. The students are provided with hands-on training in retail and service oriented businesses, as well as conflict resolution and financial literacy.

Thanks to the support of our sponsors, including our headline sponsor Dreyfus Property Group, these outstanding young men and women meet the developers and project managers of many of the projects that are scheduled along or near the corridor. This provides them with the opportunity to not only get a better understanding of neighborhood development, but also begin thinking about how to reach their personal goals and potential.

If you are interested in enrolling a teen in the program, or if you would like to volunteer or have your business host HSMS youth, please contact: Anwar Saleem, 202.543.0161.
